Alex Schmidt has an extensive background in financial services and securities and broker dealer rules and regulations. Prior to law school Alex worked as an investment advisor obtaining a Series 7 and 66 licenses. Mr. Schmidt later attended Fordham Law and furthered his knowledge of securities law working at the Fordham Law Securities and Arbitration Clinic. Alex also worked at the law firm of Bressler Amery & Ross as a summer associate in the firms Securities Law practice group and in-house at the Oppenheimer Office of the General Counsel.
Since joining Lubiner, Schmidt & Palumbo, Alex has worked on the firms securities and criminal law practice groups. Alex represents clients in FINRA and AAA arbitrations handling all aspects of litigation, mediation, and negotiation. Mr. Schmidt has handled a broad range of regulatory matters representing broker dealers and independent investment advisors before SROs such as FINRA, the New Jersey Bureau of Securities, and the SEC.
Alex also works in the Lubiner Schmidt & Palumbo criminal defense practice group. Leveraging his experience as a Captain in the US Army Military Police, he assists the criminal practice group in investigations and legal research. He has appeared in superior and municipal court on behalf of clients throughout the State of New Jersey.
Alex is an active member of the New Jersey legal community. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar, Union County Bar, and Hudson County Bar Associations as well as SIFMA. He is also an active participant in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of Hudson, Union and Essex County.
